Curriculum Designer

Central City Concern is an innovative nonprofit agency providing comprehensive services to single adults and families in the Portland metro area who are impacted by homelessness, poverty and addictions. The Role:

The Curriculum Designer position will work with service line leaders and the HR function to identify training and curriculum needs. This role will create both online and in person content in collaboration with internal and external partners with a focus on determine specific design focus in an engaging and appealing manor. This position will partner with various teams to research, develop, standardize, deploy and facilitate training that meets both individual teams and organizational needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement educational best practices through research of learning activities
  • Provide resources, tools, and training with which to meet ambitious learning objectives.
  • Develop institutional logistics and innovative policies to guide curriculum and delivery course.
  • Lead and guide operational leaders in the development and implementation of curricula to provide quality education and consistency throughout programs and courses.
  • Partner with HR to analyze, interpret, and disseminate statistics about curriculum.
  • Develops and manage processes, workflow, programs and program budgets designed to enhance and support employee experience.
  • Develop and manage high impact onboarding processes and new employee orientation in partnership with other HR departments.
  • Collaborates with CCC’s department leaders in identifying significant enablers for learning technology platforms and applications.
  • Facilitate with organizing domestic employee events, team building activities and Wellness programs.
  • Oversee and guide in the support and oversight of Central City Concern trainers, including onboarding, ongoing contact and assistance in ongoing development of training materials.
  • Manage and update training matrices and catalogues to ensure most current information is listed.
  • Assist with the planning of annual Training and Development activities, including Education Fair and Commencement.
  • Facilitate all phases of training from classroom setting onsite to virtual settings.
  • Develop a training objectives roadmap for overall curriculum structures and education plans for each project Design and implement the process for curriculum planning and course development
  • Design blended learning materials (storyboards, design documents, and/or course prototypes) that include instructional design methodology, training strategies, and participant activities for adult learners, business professionals, and industry partners
  • Design, develop, and implement e-learning and classroom training for various target audiences, to include all CCC programs using appropriate writing styles to make content easy to understand
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Computer skills necessary to complete essential duties.
  • Ability to present information and lead discussion in a diverse group of people.
  • Organizational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize, manage time, and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain in detail accurate records and necessary paperwork.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to author multimedia training content.
  • Ability to remain solution-focused and respectful in all interactions with staff, co-workers, vendors, and clients.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in a Curriculum Design or Training role or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a Health Care setting preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, competency required. HRIS, LMS, authoring programs (example: Articulate), and SharePoint experience preferred.
  • Experience presenting information to diverse groups and facilitating discussion.
  • Physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift heavy objects.
  • Must be able to climb stairs several times a day.
  • Ability to adhere to Central City Concern’s drug-free workplace which encourages a safe, healthy and productive work environment and strictly complies with the Drug-Free WorkPlace Act of 1988.
